This is the official website of the Interagency Panel on Juvenile Justice (IPJJ),  established by United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Resolution 1997/30, to act as a "coordination panel on technical advice and assistance in juvenile justice."

An estimated 1.1 million children are deprived of their liberty worldwide (UNICEF, 2008). The IPJJ works to change this situation by facilitating and enhancing the coordination of policies, projects and activities among actors engaged in juvenile justice reform. Panel members are active in the promotion and improvement of juvenile justice in compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international instruments.

This website is designed to make available information and resources in the area of juvenile justice in accordance with international standards. It aims to increase information exchange and collaboration among actors working with children in conflict with the law, including government representatives, legislators, judges, prosecutors, attorneys, police, social workers, community workers, youth workers, detention centre staff, civil society organizations, the media and academics.
