World Prison Population List (Seventh Edition)

Compiled by the International Centre for Prison Studies, King's College London, the World Prison Population List 2006 gives details of the number of prisoners held in 211 independent countries and dependent territories. It does not provide disaggregate statistics by age, but it shows the differences in the level of imprisonment across the world and makes possible an estimate of the total world prison population. TransMONEE database: Central and Eastern Europe & Commonwealth of Independent States
UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre (IRC) maintains a public-use database of socio-economic indicators for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CEE/CIS/Baltics). The database is called TransMONEE. Data generally covers the period 1989-2004/5. Most data are collected directly from national statistical offices using a standardized template. Additional data are also obtained from other international organizations or are calculated by UNICEF IRC. Data may therefore not correspond to those in other UNICEF publications. As with any cross-national statistical database, concepts and measures may differ widely across the region. Therefore, users are strongly encouraged to consult the notes on specific data. Specific notes for the queried data are provided.
