Irina Malanchuk – Assessment of Child Protection System in Kyrgyzstan (April 2009) - 30 June 2009

The document entitled "Assessment of Child Protection System in Kyrgyzstan" was written by Irina Malanchuk, International Expert on Child Protection System Reform, with the support of UNICEF. The objective of the report was to analyze and assess the existing child protection system and develop recommendations on improvement of efficiency of social services and social protection of family and children for the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Jogorku Kenesh. The report was also a background paper for the Second Child Protection Forum for Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, that took place from 12-14 May 2009 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The report can be useful for professionals developing programmes for preventing children coming into conflict with the law and emphasises the need for de-institutionalisation. Available in English.
