The report “Disappearing, departing, running away – A surfeit of children in Europe?” was written by Sofia Hedjam and published by Terre des hommes. It results from a study carried out from April 2008 to August 2009 on the alarming disappearances of unaccompanied foreign minors placed in institutions. This document analyzes and compares the situations in Belgium, France, Spain and Switzerland and suggests recommendations for reform to the governments, judicial authorities and institutions in these countries in order to put an end to this situation.
